Fulfill your travel bug with: something unusual

Reality for most people means money, jobs, mortgages, children and many other responsibilities that get in the way of travelling.

So how do you live with the travel bug if you have it, and if you don’t, how should you make the most of your time.

This year I’m looking to save some money, settle for a while and focus on finding more things to do back home in the UK. However, I want to avoid falling into the trap of just doing ordinary things, and instead adopt the same attitude as I do when travelling, and try the more unusual things. I want to experience the UK more as a traveller.

So many choices!

So, to continue with this theme, I’m going to try out a few unusual things, become more open to other people’s ideas that I might have previously turned my nose up at, and maybe even attempt the concept of Microadventures and Experimental Travel.

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be featuring a series of posts covering some of the unusual things that I will be getting up to.

Proving that you don’t always need to fly to the other side of the world to go on an adventure, it can simply be done by changing your state of mind. Why not join me…

This can be something simple such as taking a different route to work or school, eating something you wouldn’t normally choose, or picking something random off a list. Or how about something that requires a little more thought and planning, or involves a bit more adventure.

Start with one of these and keep both unusual and travel in mind:

1. Explore the area where you live from a traveller’s perspective

2. Tag along with someone else’s ‘different’ suggestion

3. Try something unusual in your capital

4. Pick something from a list

5. Plan a future trip to include somewhere or something unusual

Go on give it a try, I’ll certainly be trying to involve a few friends and family members if they’re up for it.
